My Home – Mixed Media on Canvas by Luis Mandiola (00032)

$12,000

Mixed media on canvas painting “My Home” by Chilean artist Luis Mandiola Uribe, combining layered color, texture and emotion in an intimate composition.

Description

My Home is a large mixed media painting on canvas that centers on a single white building — small, precise, and domestic — set within a horizontal landscape of towering orange trees and a dark, layered sky. The building anchors the composition, but it is surrounded rather than sheltered: the trees rise higher than its walls, the ground is made of dense parallel marks that pulse with accumulated energy, and the atmosphere above is heavy with dark pigment and charcoal cloud forms.

Mandiola uses the domestic subject to explore an ambivalence native to contemporary life — the home as both refuge and exposure, a place of belonging that is simultaneously overwhelmed by its surroundings. The light that falls on the white building is the only area of genuine calm in an otherwise turbulent composition. The mixed media surface carries physical richness that rewards close looking: layer upon layer of paint and mark, visible across the entire canvas.

This is one of Mandiola’s most emotionally resonant large-scale works — a painting that holds great tenderness and great unease in the same image. Available to collectors of contemporary Latin American art.
